The Yankees really own the Twinkies. The Bombers beat the Twins tonight 4-3 behind 6 1/3 innings of two run ball from starter
A.J Burnett(8-4). The righty has now won 4 of his last 5 starts, and now has a respectable ERA of 3.77. Burnett's only bad inning was the third, where he allowed two runs to score, aided by a couple of wild pitches, a Burnett trademark.
Brett Gardner had two RBI's, and Alex Rodriguez provided what ended up being the difference, with his RBI single in the 5th inning. Mariano Rivera picked up his 22nd save, and recorded four outs on just eleven pitches. The Yankees will go for the sweep tomorrow, with Alfredo Aceves making his first start of the season.
With the Red Sox holding on to beat Oakland 5-4 tonight, the Yankees remain one game behind Boston in the AL East.
