Donald Brashear vs Colton Orr

Found this fight from this past season on YouTube and I thought why not post it? Ironic that Brashear is now the Rangers enforcer, and Orr is no longer with the club after signing with the Maple Leafs this offseason.

  1. Although I try my best to think of the positives of the Rangers decison to essentially swap enforcers, the negatives always outweigh them. Supporters of the decision say that Brashear can protect Henrik better than Orr or that Orr will not play as well as he did last year. My views, however, are that Brashear and Orr intimidate around equally at this point in their careers, Orr started to finally develop some skills during 08-09 while the older Brashear is losing his, and Brashear is more prone to making stupid, game-costing, suspension-causing decisions than Orr. The Blueshirts may very well strongly regret replacing Orr with Brashear.

  2. I think what's interesting about the Brashear move is how many Ranger fans hate this guy because of some of his antics, especially in the playoffs last year. On the ice, it won't make too much of a difference in terms of wins/losses, but like you said, Brashear is getting up there in age.
